COMPAL Promotes ESG to Sign Sustainability Linked Loans (SLL)

2021 / 10/ 29

COMPAL values sustainable corporate development, promotes ESG and assists clients to create and develop innovative green products.  Due to the significant impact of extreme climates on the earth, the company has actively responded to the United Nations 17 SDGs goals to be achieved in 2030.  COMPAL signed the SLL with E-Sun and HSBC (Taiwan) commercial banks in October 2021 respectively to reinforce the green competitiveness of COMPAL for the promotion of a net-zero emission policy, carbon emission reduction, reduced power consumption and increased waste processing and renewable energy utilization rate to enable COMPAL’s sustainable development strategies to be quantified and realized.

COMPAL’s ESG rating is exceptional. The company’s CSR report is openly disclosed and has repeatedly won the CSR Report Platinum Award of the "TCSA Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Award" from the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy and is selected as a constituent stock in the FTSE4GOOD Index, FTSE4GOOD TIPTaiwan ESG Index, Taiwan High Compensation 100 Index and Taiwan Employment 99 Index.  Over the past two years, with the double impact of the ongoing global pandemic and volatile economy, the operational performance of COMPAL is still remarkable and continues to make advancements in smart manufacturing.  In 2021, COMPAL has been honored as the 6th in the German iF Global Enterprise Innovation Competiveness Rankings.

General Manager Martin Wong said: "As a leading global notebook computer manufacturer, COMPAL has actively invested in green product design and energy-saving management to promote lean production in recent years. Therefore, it hopes to combine the goals set by this sustainable development-linked loan to create greater economic effect and environmental protection.
This will not only further implement COMPAL’s commitment to sustainable development, but also improve the company’s overall ability to manage ESG risks. At the same time, it will play the role of an industry leader and encourage the supply chain to join the ranks of sustainable development. COMPAL will continue to promote sustainable development strategies and continue to contribute to environmental protection and the transition to a zero-carbon economy. "
