"Shezidao Wetlands Environmental Education": A Collaboration between COMPAL & Dingshe Elementary School in 2023

In a remarkable display of commitment to environmental education, Compal Electronics joined hands with the Dingshe Elementary School on September 14th, 2023, for an inspiring initiative at Shezidao Wetlands. The mission was clear: to educate and empower the young minds of the Dingshe Elementary School with the rich ecological tapestry of Taipei's mangroves and the countless life forms that find sanctuary within the wetland ecosystems. The focal point of the day's activities was the golden leather fern, a Taiwan endemic species that has experienced a triumphant resurgence within the Shezidao Wetlands due to dedicated restoration efforts. Under the expert guidance of instructors from The Society of Wilderness, the participants embarked on a trail that meandered through Golden Leather Ferns and Kandelia Candel. Along this path, they marveled at the Mudskippers, Fiddler Crabs, Egrettas, and other wetland species that thrive thriving in this delicate ecosystem. We hope that through this hands-onfirsthand observation experience will help, the the teachers and students will integrate environmental awareness into their daily lives and that they’ll join us in our collective mission to safeguard our planet.

Principal Sun of the Dingshe Elementary School also accompanied the young students on a special day trip meticulously organized by Compal Electronics. After the morning's enlightening environmental education session at Shezidao Wetlands, the group proceeded to the Taipei Children's Amusement Park, where they wholeheartedly engaged in the day's planned activities alongside fellow young participants from various locales.

Our volunteer partners continued in their mission of to introducing introduce the children to UN SDGs. During this particular excursion, the focus centered on SDG 13 - Climate Action and SDG 6 - Clean Water and Sanitation.
