World Environment Day ~ Compal Hsia Liao Beach Cleaning

Originated from the world's first "United Nations Conference on the Human Environment" on June 5, 1972, the World Environment Day was the first international event which aim to raise the awareness of environmental protection to the world. COMPAL and Eco-Aid once again conduct annual beach cleaning action at the Ha Liu Beach on June 4 (Sat). The weather on that day was perfect for beach cleaning, and the beach in Xialiao was very clean this time. 73 COMPAL staff and family members and EIA's beach cleaning volunteers removed 115 kg of plastic and sea waste from the beach.

The theme of World Environment Day 2023 is "Beat Plastic Pollution", which aims to reduce man-made plastic waste, accelerate the circular economy, and reduce plastic pollution. Through full public participation in protecting the ocean, we hope to gradually reduce the amount of marine waste!

Encourage COMPAL staff to practice green actions such as protecting the environment, recycling, reduce the use of plastic in everyday life and participate in beach and river cleaning actions. With the joint effort of our staff, we hope to fulfill the "SDGs14 - Marine Ecology Life Below Water", "SDGs15 - Land Ecology Life on Land" to achieve a sustainable future.
