2022 / 08/ 31

Compal care about climate change. In response to 30 (Ocean) X 30 (Land) Greenpeace , we designed a series of green education activities for our colleagues to learn more about the reason for protecting indigenous species, help restoring the ocean ecology, establishing abundant ocean protection area as well as providing a safe ecological corridor for long-distance migratory sea creatures.

Do you know why “Chinese Crested Tern” is called “enigma”?
It is not only the first-class protected species in Taiwan, an endangered species in the checklist of bird but also the county bird of Matsu.

Compal Green Life Health Club has invited the Deputy Executive Director of Wild Bird Society of Taipei, Kung-Kuo Chiang, to give a seminar for the colleagues in Compal on August 31. The seminar was about the process of the 100 remained Chinese Crested Tern, the endangered species, being discovered again. We recommended the documentary film “Enigma: The Chinese Crested Tern” made by the director Chieh-te Lieng to the colleagues and shared the observation and track plan the Matsu Conservation Area do for Chinese Crested Tern since 2011 and how do they discover the breeding places of Chinese Crested Tern are only in Matsu, Penghu, Zhejiang and Jeolanam-do in Korea.

All participated colleagues listened attentively and asked different questions, especially in the technology device the conservation area used to protect the area and the way it monitors the species and breeding place. We hoped colleagues who are interested in the protection of the birds can act as volunteers of our club. Let us work together to avoid the marine litter and human-caused disturbance to harm the endangered species and protect 10,000 birds in different species in the world and pays attention to the sustainable eco-environment.
