Compal x Kaohsiung Neimen Branch 2022 Eastern Culture Visit

2022 / 06/ 20

When the novel coronavirus epidemic slowed in March, grade 6 students and teachers from Ximen, Guanting, Mucha, and Gouping Elementary Schools in Neimen District went to Taitung for a cultural visit from March 23 to 25 as part of the cooperation plan between Compal Electronics and Kaohsiung City Library. This is the second year this event has been held. The visit provides schoolchildren who live in the most impoverished administrative districts with the same opportunities as their counterparts in metropolitan areas to witness knowledge in person by visiting the cultural venues they only usually read about in textbooks.

On this occasion, Compal Electronics assisted teachers and students from four elementary schools in Neimen District of Kaohsiung City on field trips to the east for three days. During the trip, they visited Peinan Site Park, National Taitung University Library, and the National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium to learn about marine life in Taiwan waters, as well as historical visits to sites of Peinan culture. We visited the famous green building – Color Library of the National Taitung University Library, in which the concept of sustainable environmental protection is conveyed through the beautiful architectural design and how green sustainability can be implemented in life.

Wang Tsong-kun, principal of Guanting Elementary School, highlighted that the geographical location of Neimen District is remote, so many schoolchildren would rarely have the opportunity to visit other counties and cities. On this visit to cultural and educational institutions to eastern Taiwan for free, the children's sense of culture was not only stimulated, but they had the opportunity to learn more about the history of Taiwan. Lin Yi-cheng, acting Director of Kaohsiung City Library, also expressed gratitude to Compal Electronics for sponsoring the school trip. Trips such as this helps rural children increase their knowledge and broaden their horizons. Compal will continue to organize similar activities so children in remote areas have more diversified learning opportunities.

Compal Electronics shall continue to exert its social influence and engage in regional cultural education while promoting SDGs4 goals of high-quality education.
