Congratulations! The HCI Foundation Awarded the 114th Ministry of Education “Social Education Contribution Award – Organization Category”
On January 16, 2026, Ms. Tsai Li-chu, Chairperson of the HCI Foundation, attended in person the 114th Social Education Contribution Awards Ceremony, hosted by Taiwan’s Ministry of Education, to receive recognition honoring individuals and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to social education.
At the ceremony, the Foundation was publicly commended alongside two Lifetime Contribution Award recipients, 16 individual award winners, and 15 other award-winning organizations, all of whom have demonstrated long-term dedication to social welfare and education.
Since 2009, the HCI Foundation has collaborated with the Mandarin Daily News and elementary school educators across Pingtung County to promote Newspaper-in-Education (NIE) programs for primary school students. Beginning in 2010, the Foundation also invited colleagues from the COMPAL & Kinpo Group to participate in the “Dreams Take Flight Program,” supporting students’ learning journeys by enhancing reading literacy and helping children develop their talents according to their individual strengths.
Sincere thanks go to the caring colleagues and family members of COMPALs, who have joined the “Dreams Take Flight Program” year after year as sponsors and donors. In 2025, 274 COMPAL colleagues and family members continued to support underprivileged students in pursuing artistic and talent development, while 535 COMPAL colleagues responded to the Foundation’s year-end fundraising campaign, helping families in need and disadvantaged children enjoy a warmer Lunar New Year.
In an interview with the Mandarin Daily News, Chairperson Tsai Li-chu once shared:
“Doing good is not a temporary choice, but a belief that must be practiced throughout one’s lifetime.”
Over the years, COMPAL has continuously supported the HCI Foundation in assisting underprivileged families with their basic living needs, promoting the belief that education can transform lives, valuing the quality of children’s learning, and fostering the development of information education and arts and culture in both urban and rural communities.
Through the annual COMPAL Reading Volunteer Program, young students are encouraged to engage in volunteer service, jointly promoting reading education and expanding life perspectives through the power of knowledge.
In 2023, COMPALs, in partnership with the Kaohsiung Public Library – Reading with a New Vision, received the 112th Ministry of Education “Social Education Contribution Award – Organization Category” for the ESG Rural Reading Initiative. In 2026, this public–private collaboration will enter its sixth year, continuing to enhance community development, preserve local culture through diverse reading initiatives, and put the principles of social inclusion into practice.
Through its commitment to ESG, COMPALs works hand in hand with its colleagues to sustain a virtuous cycle in which life influences life, calling on more people to care for society, value quality education for all, and ensure the lasting development and transmission of community culture.
