In July 2025, Yuanqi Compal Long-Term Care Social Welfare Organization and St. John’s University of Science and Technology signed an industry–academia collaboration agreement to jointly promote professional long-term care talent development and innovation in smart care. The agreement was signed by Chairman Jimmy Yeh of Yuanqi Compal Long-Term Care and President Yen-Po Tang of St. John’s University, formally establishing a strategic partnership.

Guests witnessing the signing included General Manager Paul Cheng of Compal Ruifang Health Asset Development, Consultant Ethan Yeh of Compal Electronics, Executive Board Director Hung-Lien Tseng of St. John’s University, former Vice President Prof. Chien-Hsing Wang, as well as faculty members from the Department of Gerontechnology and Health Promotion. The ceremony was held in a solemn and celebratory atmosphere.

Chairman Jimmy Yeh noted that this three-year collaboration is built around the core concept of combining industry practice with academic research. The two parties will deepen cooperation in areas such as long-term care talent cultivation, internships and employment, and smart technology applications. Going forward, Yuanqi Compal will provide scholarships, internship placements, and employment opportunities for students of St. John’s University’s Department of Gerontechnology and Health Promotion. By integrating Japanese-style meticulous care with Taiwan’s smart medical technologies, the organization aims to enhance the quality of long-term care services and help society build a stronger pool of professional elder-care talent.

President Yen-Po Tang expressed his appreciation to Yuanqi Compal for offering scholarships to students in the gerontechnology program, and pointed out that Yuanqi Compal Long-Term Care Social Welfare Organization was jointly established by Japan’s Genki Group and Compal in Taiwan. Genki Group has been deeply engaged in the long-term care field for over 30 years, operating more than 80 long-term care institutions, multiple medical facilities, and vocational schools for healthcare professionals, and has built a strong reputation in Japan through extensive hands-on experience. Compal, on the other hand, has entered the smart care field through its “Compal iCare” platform, leveraging AI and big data technologies to help thousands of long-term care institutions digitize and optimize their management.

By joining forces with St. John’s University, the two sides will fully integrate educational and industrial resources, injecting new momentum into Taiwan’s long-term care industry.

“This signing symbolizes the university’s firm commitment to deepening industry–academia collaboration,” St. John’s University stated. The university looks forward to working hand in hand with Yuanqi Compal to cultivate long-term care professionals who possess both solid theoretical knowledge and practical skills, enabling students to seamlessly connect with industry needs after graduation and helping lead Taiwan’s long-term care services toward higher quality and smarter development.

Compal Electronics has long been deeply rooted in Taiwan and, in recent years, has actively advanced business diversification. In the field of smart healthcare, Compal has launched multiple projects in cooperation with hospitals and medical institutions across Taiwan, building strategic partnerships along the way.

Compal will continue to promote smart healthcare and technological innovation, implementing its ESG corporate sustainability vision so that limited medical resources are no longer constrained by geography and can be extended to serve residents in remote and rural communities.
