Warm congratulations to Group President ROCK HSU on receiving the venture capital industry’s highest honor—the Venture Capital Lifetime Achievement Award.
This distinction not only recognizes his many years of dedication to advancing Taiwan’s venture capital sector and accompanying the growth of Taiwan’s technology industry, but also his efforts in helping the industry connect with international markets and his vision and execution in promoting industry–academia collaboration and startup development.
Key milestones in President Hsu’s contributions include:
· Since 2018, he has led the establishment of Taiwan’s first “university system venture capital platform”—NTNU Innovation Holdings - opening up new pathways for industry - academia cooperation.
· He has led the COMPAL Group to invest more than NT$3 billion, supporting nearly 30 venture capital firms and funds, and linking with well-known institutions such as Taiwania, Kwang-Yuan, I-Din and others, jointly strengthening Taiwan’s startup ecosystem.
· With a strong commitment to public service, he has, through multiple business organizations (including the China Productivity Center, the Third Wednesday Club (33 Club), and the Chinese National Federation of Industries), actively offered policy recommendations to the government, helping to build a more friendly and attractive environment for innovation and venture investment in Taiwan.
· In emerging sectors such as AI, biomedical technology, automotive electronics, and green energy, he has promoted strategic cross-domain integration, aligning capital with creativity and igniting new waves of innovation.
Known for his wisdom and long-term vision, Group President Hsu shared the following in his acceptance remarks:
“Every era offers space and an environment in which venture capital can develop. If we each stay grounded and cultivate ourselves well, and devote our efforts to mechanisms that generate positive impact for our country and society, then we can live out a truly different and remarkable life.”
Over the years, President Hsu has adhered to a people philosophy of “recognizing talent and placing them well, clearly defining layered responsibilities, fully delegating authority, and ‘do not employ those you doubt, and do not doubt those you employ.’” He provides his management teams and colleagues with opportunities to fully apply their strengths.
Looking ahead to future challenges, he emphasizes global corporate sustainability, keeps a keen eye on international trends, and adopts diversified strategies and cross-domain collaboration to expand the Group’s global footprint in green business, the AI and digital economy, automotive electronics, smart healthcare, and biotechnology, thereby maintaining long-term competitiveness.
