Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) hosted a press conference of the winning organization of the “Innovative Technology Shining in the World 2024 R&D 100 Awards” on September 11th, in Taipei, Taiwan. COMPAL's “5G and AI-enabled Smart Mattress Care System” 2024, a joint project of COMPAL, IISI Software Institute, Wisdom Sense, and YungShin Social Welfare Foundation, received a silver medal in the “R&D 100 Awards”, one of the world's top 100 science and technology awards.
COMPAL's 5G R&D team, represented by Mr. Philip Chuang, Senior Director, Mr. David Dai, Senior Director, Mr. Yin-Yi Chang, Director, and Mr. Kun-Yang Ho, Senior Manager, attended the ceremony to receive the R&D 100 Awards together with the partners of “5G and AI-enabled Smart Mattress Care System”, and to accept the recognition of R&D innovation and technological capability together.

In a press conference, the Department of Digital Industry of the Ministry of Digital Development stated that the “5G and AI-enabled Smart Mattress Care System” technology has already been in practical use, providing personalized bed models, with more than 5,400 people benefiting from the system so far. With 5G technology's superior transmission power, predictive notifications can help caregivers respond in a timely manner, reduce the burden on caregivers, and prevent fall accidents. Building a smart care technology and safe environment to help improve the quality of life of caregivers and the elderly.
In 2023, COMPAL won three R&D 100 awards for its “Intelligent Radiofrequency Thermal Ablation System” and was approved by the TFDA and the U.S. FDA. In 2024, COMPAL's intelligent medical “iMat Intelligent Nursing Care” product was once again recognized globally.
COMPAL continues to invest in the development of smart medical products and has completed the clinical certification by medical organizations, which is an affirmation of the excellence of medical product R&D. COMPAL expects to contribute to the upgrading of Taiwan's medical industry. COMPAL is looking forward to adding new impetus to the upgrading of Taiwan's medical industry, developing and innovating more technologies and products that can be practically applied in the market, and jointly creating the social value of the application of Ai digital healthcare technology to help more people enjoy a good health and a happy life.
