Compal Electronics announced today (May, 5gh) the launch of its quantum-inspired computing service, the Compal GPU Annealer, which has been selected for use in a national digital annealing R&D project supported by Taiwan's National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) and led by National Cheng Kung University. Through this collaboration, Compal will join forces with Taiwan’s national quantum team to accelerate the research and development of quantum-inspired applications, especially in large-scale implementation within the biomedical and semiconductor industries.

As a long-time leader in computing technology, Compal has been deeply invested in developing GPU-powered accelerated computing systems. The Compal GPU Annealer is an advanced solution that leverages GPU acceleration to tackle complex optimization problems that traditional computing struggles to solve efficiently. Its broad application potential spans industries such as finance, manufacturing, and biomedical technology.

In partnership with Taiwan's quantum national team, Compal has already initiated joint research projects across multiple sectors. In the biomedical field, the Compal GPU Annealer can accelerate compound-molecule interaction analysis, enabling precise prediction and screening of candidate compounds and significantly increasing experimental success rates. In the semiconductor sector, the technology addresses optimization challenges such as photomask design and process refinement, helping to greatly enhance manufacturing efficiency.

Sheng-Hua Peng, Executive Vice President of Compal Electronics, stated:

“The adoption of our Compal GPU Annealer by Taiwan’s national quantum team marks a significant milestone. This collaboration will help drive innovation in Taiwan’s quantum computing ecosystem and promote real-world industrial applications. Compal remains committed to advancing quantum computing technologies and will continue to contribute to Taiwan’s scientific and technological progress.”
