On September 19, 2025, Group companies— COMPAL Electronics, Kinpo Electronics, and AcBel Polytech—brought together 100 colleagues in Pinglin District, New Taipei City, for a one-day program themed “Sustainable Environmental Education Experience.”

The event combined the heritage of local organic tea culture with ecological education. Through tea-picking, tea-making, and guided eco-tours, participants gained first-hand appreciation of the value of environmental sustainability and biodiversity. Walking from the Pinglin Tea Museum to Luyu, participants learned about local wildlife habitats and the history of the century-old Bailaociao Bridge, before continuing together to an organic tea plantation. Amid sunshine, breeze, and birdsong, colleagues personally experienced tea-picking and took part in ecological interaction activities that deepened their understanding and awareness of environmental protection.

The group then visited Jingyuan Tea Farm for the “Journey of Tea” guided tour and green tea pan-firing session, witnessing the sustainable journey of tea from field to table. After a low-carbon vegetarian lunch, participants attended the “Tea for Reservoir Protection” course, which highlighted how organic tea farming is closely tied to safeguarding Feitsui Reservoir—showcasing the possibility of coexistence between agriculture and water resource sustainability. The day concluded with a session by ecological expert Mr. Lin Ching-Feng, who introduced Pinglin’s tea-garden biodiversity. Through examples of fireflies, frogs, birds, and pollinators, he explained how organic farming, by reducing pesticide and chemical fertilizer use, creates safe habitats that foster a healthier, more balanced ecosystem.

Located upstream of the Xindian River, Pinglin’s tea-growing region not only boasts a century of tea culture but also serves as a vital water source for Greater Taipei. COMPAL has launched the “Pinglin Organic Tea Adoption Program” to actively support organic agriculture, improving soil quality, enhancing tea tree health, and preserving local biodiversity. The program also fosters farmer collaboration, underscoring the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability and local agricultural prosperity. This initiative demonstrates that organic farming can simultaneously protect the environment and promote rural development.

COMPAL Electronics Independent Director and Sustainability Committee Member, Mr. Wen-Chung Shen, stated:
“The Pinglin organic tea gardens not only safeguard Taipei’s crucial water source but also nurture biodiversity and support the sustainable development of local agriculture through eco-friendly farming. COMPAL has long been engaged in these initiatives, with a net-zero emissions target set for 2050. We continue to promote energy conservation and carbon reduction, adopt renewable energy, and strengthen supply chain collaboration. At the same time, we actively advance the circular economy—from product design and manufacturing to recycling—to reduce resource use and environmental impact, demonstrating our firm commitment to sustainability.”

AcBel Polytech’s Chief Sustainability Officer, Mr. Kuo-Lung Chen, commented:
“Jingyuan Tea not only protects the water security of Feitsui Reservoir but also provides safe habitats for wildlife and insects, enabling harmonious coexistence of humans and nature through eco-friendly farming. This rich biodiversity reflects the principles emphasized by the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), reminding us that net zero is not the only goal—biodiversity protection is fundamental. Only by safeguarding ecosystems at the source can we create a more resilient and sustainable future for ourselves and the next generation.”

Kinpo Electronics’ Chief Sustainability Officer, Mr. Nai-Pu Yu, added:
“Environmental sustainability is not only about managing carbon emissions—it is about recognizing the interdependence of nature and industry. At Kinpo, we integrate ESG into our colleagues’ values, turning environmental awareness into corporate culture and action through hands-on experiences. This event reflects the spirit of ‘transforming from manufacturing to value creation’ and deepens our connection with the land. When every colleague becomes a practitioner of sustainability, our environment becomes better because of us.”

This initiative reflects COMPAL Group’s determination to advance ESG, while empowering colleagues to transform sustainability concepts into practical actions. Looking ahead, the Group will continue to expand environmental education, promote green procurement, advocate for low-carbon lifestyles, and work closely with supply chain partners to create a sustainable blueprint that balances environmental responsibility with industry competitiveness.
