In order to arouse people's attention to the natural ecology and environmental protection, and to take action against the marine ecological crisis in Taiwan, COMPAL Group, COMPAL Computer, Comfort Technology, and SHENBAO Medical Capital have called upon their colleagues to organize a joint beach cleanup activity along the coast of Danshuei Chauzi Bay on October 18th, to implement the protection of the marine ecosystem and the coastal environment, and to work together to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs) No. 14, which is to conserve and sustain the marine ecosystem. Taiwan
Taiwan, a beautiful island surrounded by the sea, is blessed with unique natural conditions. Its 1,200 kilometers of coastline are characterized by unique natural landscapes. However, as human activities intensify, industrial wastewater and household garbage carried by rivers continue to flow into the sea, causing serious damage to the local ecosystem. The death of a large number of fish, the discoloration of oysters, and the sudden death of clams have occurred from time to time, and these events are the warning signs of the marine ecological crisis.
Under the leadership of Nai-Pu You, CEO of Campbell Group, Wilma Wei, Senior Vice President of COMPAL Computer, and Kuo-Lung Chen, CEO of Comfort Technology, volunteers rolled up their sleeves and cleaned up hundreds of kilograms of marine waste to restore the pure beauty of Chau Tzu Wan.
Mr. Nai-Pu Yau, Sustainability Officer of Campbell Group, said, “Marine waste pollutes the waters and threatens the survival of marine life, and the plastic particles derived from it also jeopardize the health of human beings all over the world as they drift along the seawater and accumulate in the food chain. The beach cleanup event allows us to deeply examine our relationship with nature, and we hope to make more people realize that solving the marine litter problem is an important task to protect the environment, promote biodiversity, and achieve sustainable development.”.
COMPAL's Senior Vice President, Mr.Wilma Wei, said, “Through this group beach cleaning activity, let's work together to protect this beautiful ocean and spread this environmental protection spirit to more people. We hope that today's event is not only a beach cleanup, but also a new beginning for us to practice environmental protection in every corner of our lives.”
Mr. K.L. Chen, President and CEO of AcBel said, “As the challenges posed by climate change become more and more severe, it is even more important to internalize environmental sustainability into our corporate culture. Through this event, we hope to motivate our employees to care about and practice the concept of ecological protection and environmental sustainability outside of work. This is not only an action to remove garbage, but also an important step for Kinpo Group to continue to promote sustainable development and implement the ESG concept.”
In order to encourage employees to practice environmental protection, COMPAL Electronics, COMPAL Computer, and Comfort Tech have also set up paid volunteer leave, and integrated environmental protection into their daily lives by separating garbage and encouraging them to bring their own eco-friendly tableware, so as to make plastic reduction an attitude of life.
The Group takes action to give back to the earth and plays its role as a contributor to the value chain with its own strengths. The Group firmly believes that only through cooperation and practical actions can we truly bring positive changes to the planet. In the future, the Group will continue to invest in social welfare and environmental protection to maximize the impact of corporate philanthropy, expanding the sustainability effect and fulfilling its commitment to a green future.
