Since 2024, COMPAL Electronics has been collaborating with the Department of Special Education at National Kaohsiung Normal University (NKNU) to form the “NKNU General and Special Education Student Science Task Force.” In its first year, the team organized a “Hermit Crab AR Hands-on Camp” for children.
In 2025, under the leadership and guidance of Professor Ming-Fu Tsai, the Task Force launched its second year of activities, designing a “Fun Hands-on Science” camp for students in self-contained special education classes at elementary schools. The team traveled to Renwu Elementary School and Minzu Elementary School in Kaohsiung City, as well as Xinwei Elementary School and Gaoshu Elementary School in Pingtung County, hosting a total of eight science camps.
The science team began curriculum discussions and teaching-material preparation as early as February, deciding to focus on centrifugal force as the main theme. They designed activities that allow students in special education classes to assemble their own learning kits, thereby increasing hands-on practice, learning enjoyment, and opportunities for scientific inquiry. The goal is to promote inclusive education while strengthening students’ ability to explore science.
This year, the NKNU Student Science Task Force has already visited Neishi Elementary School, Saijia Elementary School, Xinwei Elementary School, and Gaoshu Elementary School in Pingtung County, as well as Banan Tribal Elementary and Junior High School, Laonong Elementary School, Renwu Elementary School, and Minzu Elementary School in Kaohsiung City. We hope that all the children participating in the Science Task Force camps can fully enjoy the fun of learning science—discovering which everyday objects are related to friction, absorbing new knowledge, and immediately putting it into practice through hands-on scientific activities that show how science is applied in daily life.
By combining scientific applications with environmental themes, the program conveys the importance of sustainable ecosystems to every participant—both children and adults. With the power of innovative technology, the NKNU Student Science Task Force aims to support a more sustainable and beautiful Earth.
The NKNU Science Task Force is on the move—let’s protect our planet together. GO!
