2024 “COMPAL Advanced Forum on Circular Economy

2024 / 09/ 11

On September 11, 2024, COMPAL hosted the “COMPAL Advanced Forum on Circular Economy” and invited CEO of Circular Taiwan Foundation, Ms. Huei-Ling Chen, to the Taipei headquarters to provide 90 senior executives with circular economy strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions year by year in order to achieve the 2050 global net-zero carbon emissions target.

COMPAL's CEO, Mr. Peng Sheng-Hua, attended the forum and gave a speech to thank COMPAL's colleagues for their joint efforts in obtaining the RE100 certification this year, and formally passing the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in September, completing the target setting. Next, we still need to work hard with all partners on how to make our customers recognize the sustainable value of COMPAL products in product development and design, and realize the goal of using 100% renewable energy by 2050.

In this forum, CEO Mr. Chen has used the global development of circular economy instead of linear economy and provided practical experience sharing, hoping to let everyone understand and think about the long-term impact of the concept of circular economy on the e-commerce industry. It is suggested to utilize the maximization of product lifecycle management to drive the transformation of the industrial supply chain, use “service” as the starting point, and think about alliances and cooperation with other industries to establish a circular supply network to create diversified value development.
At the same time, he also introduced the policies related to the circular economy, CEP, CC4CC Taiwan's circular electronics partners, and advocated accelerating circular cooperation to solve the global climate crisis, and working together to achieve the goal of net-zero carbon emissions with actions and joint commitments.

Mr. Sheng-Hua Peng, President and CEO of CC4CC Taiwan, said, “The characteristics of recycled products include: design: modularization and maintainability; material: renewable and recyclable; and use: products must be able to be upgraded and extend their service life. These characteristics are the direction of our endeavor.
COMPAL has successfully assisted customers in the design, manufacture and sales of two famous circular economy electronic products, namely the Framework laptop designed and manufactured by COMPAL, and the Fair phone distributed and sold by our subsidiary, King Fong Telecom, both of which have been highly recognized by many international evaluation organizations.
The realization of circular economy does not only rely on the efforts of a single enterprise, but also requires the integration and collaboration of the entire industrial value chain. We need to build a common language of consensus in order to grasp new opportunities in cooperation.”

COMPAL is implementing the Ministry of Economic Affairs' Supply Chain ONE+N Carbon Reduction Program in 2024, and taking this opportunity to plan this “Advanced Forum on Circular Economy”. At the same time, COMPAL will also organize two “Circular Economy Workshops” for employees and suppliers, in the hope of creating a space for cross-departmental dialogues, participating in the learning of new knowledge on circular economy, and exploring more new opportunities for cooperation on circular economy.

Together with our customers and suppliers, COMPAL will work with our sustainable carbon reduction partners to move towards the global net-zero carbon emission goal.
