To raise public awareness of nature conservation and marine environmental protection, the Kinpo–COMPAL Group held the 2025 Joint Coastal Cleanup at Longmen Beach in Gongliao District, New Taipei City.

This year’s event gathered 150 passionate volunteers from COMPAL Electronics, Kinpo Electronics, and AcBel Polytech, who took concrete action to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 14 – Life Below Water.
The initiative also embodies the core principles of the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) and the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), demonstrating the Group’s long-term commitment to biodiversity and nature stewardship.

Aligning with Global Frameworks to Build a Nature-Positive Future

Surrounded by the ocean, Taiwan nurtures diverse ecosystems and marine habitats. However, plastic pollution and human waste continue to threaten marine health.

The Kinpo–COMPAL Group has long focused on marine conservation and climate change issues. Through its annual joint cleanup initiative, the Group actively supports the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) “Clean Seas” campaign, the GBF 2030 global targets, and the TNFD’s nature-related disclosure principles—transforming global sustainability frameworks into tangible corporate actions.

Volunteers collected and digitally recorded waste data, which will be submitted to the National Marine Debris Database to serve as a reference for future policymaking and environmental education.
Before the cleanup, participants attended a marine environmental education session introducing biodiversity importance and the ecological impact of plastic pollution—deepening employees’ understanding of sustainability through the approach of “Knowledge × Action × Civic Engagement.”

Leaders Speak Out: Corporate Commitment to Nature and Sustainability
Eric Peng, Executive Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer of COMPAL Electronics,  remarked:
“While some may see a single cleanup as limited in impact, its true value lies in helping colleagues experience the importance of protecting our oceans firsthand. Through such participation, we cultivate care for nature and transform awareness into everyday sustainable actions—fulfilling our company’s long-term environmental commitment.”

Kuo-Lung Chen, Chief Sustainability Officer of AcBel Polytech, added:
“Climate change and biodiversity loss are two of the world’s greatest risks. Businesses must go beyond carbon reduction to safeguard natural capital. Through this initiative, we practice the GBF vision of ‘Living in Harmony with Nature’ and, guided by the TNFD framework, begin disclosing our impacts and dependencies on nature step by step.”

Chih-Lung Wu, Director of Kinpo Electronics, stated:
“Plastic waste and marine debris have become global challenges. Through volunteer actions and education, we hope to inspire employees and the public to join us—starting with reducing plastic and daily waste at the source—to become part of the movement protecting our oceans.”

Looking Ahead: Advancing Toward a Nature-Positive Future

The Kinpo–COMPAL Group is deeply committed to ESG development and biodiversity governance.
The Group has implemented a paid volunteer leave program, encourages employees to participate in environmental activities, and has adopted the TNFD disclosure framework to incorporate nature-related risks and opportunities into business decisions.

The Group firmly believes that only through collaboration between business and society can the vision of “Nature Positive” growth be realized.
Through continuous actions and cross-sector cooperation, the Kinpo–COMPAL Group strives to leave a lasting mark of sustainability on Taiwan’s blue coasts and the Earth’s green future.
