Compal Electronics ("Compal"; TWSE: 2324) continues to advance its AI transformation, deepening the use of AI across manufacturing and enterprise management, and its progress has once again earned strong external recognition. At the 6th Digital Transformation Ding-Ge Awards, Compal won First Prize in the Smart Manufacturing Upgrade Transformation category for its "Eye of Smart Manufacturing" high-precision AI visual inspection platform, and a Merit Award in the Intelligent Management Transformation category for "AI Agents Empowering Employees," a continuously evolving intelligent agent management platform. Together, the awards showcase Compal's AI innovation from smart manufacturing to intelligent management.

The Ding-Ge Awards are among Taiwan's leading honors for corporate digital transformation, recognizing companies that harness digital technology to drive innovation and business transformation. Standing out among 115 participating companies and institutions this year, Compal won both a First Prize and a Merit Award, reflecting the concrete results of Compal's sustained investment in AI R&D and enterprise-wide digital transformation in recent years. At today's award ceremony, the honors were accepted on Compal's behalf by Douglass Chen, Chief Global Strategy Officer and Chief Transformation Officer, and Derek Chen, Vice President of the Common Software R&D Division. The two awards recognize Compal's use of AI to raise manufacturing quality and efficiency, and its deployment of AI agents to optimize workflows and enterprise management.

Eye of Smart Manufacturing: AI Vision Enables Real-Time Inspection Without Slowing High-Speed Lines

Designed around the practical demands of high-speed production floors, the Eye of Smart Manufacturing platform extends from software algorithms into optical and hardware design. It overcomes the image-capture and computing challenges of fast-moving products, completing real-time imaging and AI inspection while products stay in motion on the conveyor. On some lines, where a notebook PC is produced every 6 to 10 seconds, the system performs more than 20 inspections simultaneously every second, improving inspection efficiency and quality consistency without changing the existing line pace.

Compal also redefined its AI recognition model architecture, grouping more than 10,000 material part numbers into roughly 80 to 100 component categories and building shared models based on part-numbering rules, which cut modeling workload by more than 90%. The team further divided quality standards into nine grades, enabling different production lines to adopt consistent defect criteria before training the AI models. This “Standardize → Replicate → Scale” approach allows proven AI capabilities to be rapidly replicated across models, products and production lines, and has supported deployment across more than 500 stations. Beyond raising inspection accuracy and product quality, the Eye of Smart Manufacturing reduces the burden of manual inspection and the risk of misjudgment, demonstrating how AI can move from individual applications to scalable manufacturing capabilities.

From Smart Manufacturing to Intelligent Management: AI Agents as an Extension of Employee Capabilities

Beyond applying AI vision in smart manufacturing, Compal continues to explore new ways for AI to work alongside employees and enterprise management processes. The award-winning "AI Agents Empowering Employees" platform integrates enterprise data, domain expertise and workflows to help employees quickly find information and complete tasks, evolving AI from a standalone tool into an extension of employee capabilities. Starting from real needs on the factory floor, Compal uses innovations such as AI vision, shared models and AI agents to turn frontline manufacturing and management experience into replicable, scalable AI capabilities, moving AI adoption from isolated deployments toward scale.

"The core of Compal's AI transformation is not how many new technologies we adopt, but whether they truly solve real problems on the ground, and whether each success can be continuously replicated and scaled," said Derek Chen, Vice President. Douglass Chen, Senior Vice President, added: "AI transformation is not just a technology upgrade; it is a comprehensive evolution of our corporate culture and talent. Through AI and data, we aim to turn the manufacturing experience, expertise and know-how we have built over many years into organizational capabilities that keep accumulating and evolving, making Compal an intelligent enterprise that continuously learns, adapts quickly and evolves on its own, and building long-term competitiveness for the future."

The dual recognition at the 6th Ding-Ge Awards highlights not only Compal's achievements in AI R&D and real-world deployment, but also its long-term commitment to AI-driven digital transformation and to strengthening the competitiveness of its global operations.
