Compal Electronics (“Compal” stock code: 2324) convened its annual general shareholders' meeting this morning. The meeting acknowledged the 2023 business report, financial statements, and annual earnings distribution proposal. The shareholders’ meeting also successfully elected a total of 15 board members (including 5 independent directors) for the 15th term, with terms commencing from May 31, 2024 and concluding on May 30, 2027. Following the shareholders' meeting, the company promptly convened a board meeting. All directors unanimously recommended the appointment of Mr. Ray Chen, the former Vice Chairman, as the new Chairman of the board. Mr. Anthony Peter Bonadero has been appointed as the company's President. Mr. Sheng-Hsiung Hsu (Rock Hsu) has officially retired from his position as Chairman of Compal, successfully completing the leadership transition plan. Mr. Hsu expressed his confidence in the new board members and management team, encouraging them to uphold the spirit of "innovation, harmony, and transcendence" and continuously creating long-term value for the company and its shareholders.
Mr. Ray Chen, the newly appointed Chairman, has accumulated over 40 years of experience in Taiwan information and communication technology industry. During his tenure as Vice Chairman and Chief Strategy Officer, he has guided the company's strategic development and actively expanded Compal's diversification and smart medical ventures.
Mr. Martin Wong during his term as President, he dedicated to optimizing the product portfolio and improving profitability. Under his leadership, Compal’s 2023 operating profits reached a six-year high. Moving forward, Mr. Wong will continue to support and assist the new management team in a corporate advisory role.
Mr. Anthony Peter Bonadero, the newly appointed President of Compal, joined the company in 2009 and has over 15 years of management experience with the company. He was elected as one of Compal board of directors since 2018. Prior to Compal, he served at Dell Computer for many years. Before his promotion to President of Compal, he was the Executive Vice President of Compal’s subsidiary, Auscom Engineering Inc., and acted as the head of the PC Business Group of the company. Mr. Bonadero has made significant contributions in new business development, customer relations, and corporate innovation. In the future, he will lead the management team to further leverage competitive advantages and actively pursue the next milestone.
