Enabling Seamless M2M Communication for AMRs in Indoor and semi-outdoor Environments with 5G Modules
Our client is a leading provider of intelligent robotics solutions, specializing in high-payload Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) designed to address labor shortages in large-scale factories and logistics warehouses. In this specific application, the AMRs operate within complex industrial environments, navigating between high-density indoor warehouses filled with metal shelving and semi-outdoor loading docks.
However, these environments pose significant challenges to wireless communication. Tall metal racks create severe signal shielding and multipath effects. Furthermore, as robots move at high speeds between different zones (e.g., transitioning from indoors to semi-outdoors), any latency or disconnection during network handover can cause the robots to lose their location fix or trigger emergency stops, severely disrupting production line efficiency. Additionally, the continuous vibration generated during operation often causes traditional plug-in communication interfaces to loosen. Consequently, our client urgently required a solution capable of supporting high bandwidth and ultra-low latency while possessing industrial-grade vibration resistance to ensure real-time Machine-to-Machine (M2M) collaboration and seamless connectivity with the central dispatch system.
our RXL-G1 module (powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon X55) is engineered for extreme performance and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), meeting the most rigorous data transmission demands.
-
Industrial-Grade LGA Packaging: Utilizing Land Grid Array (LGA) soldering technology, our module offers superior vibration and oxidation resistance compared to traditional Mini-PCIe or M.2 interfaces. This ensures a solid, uninterrupted connection even under long-term movement and vibration.
-
Comprehensive 5G NR Support (NSA/SA): Fully supports Sub-6GHz bands with dual-mode networking. It delivers powerful signal penetration and broad coverage, effectively eliminating dead zones in factories and solving signal handover issues between indoor and outdoor areas.
-
Ultra-Low Latency & Reliability (URLLC): Leveraging the peak performance of the SDX-55, the module provides millisecond-level latency. This guarantees that critical SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) and path planning data are synchronized with the cloud in real-time for precise control.
Benefits Achieved by the Client
-
Achieved True Seamless Roaming: Client’s AMR fleet can now move freely between indoor warehouses and semi-outdoor docks. The module handles signal handovers actively and smoothly, completely eliminating downtime caused by network lag or disconnection.
-
Enhanced Fleet Collaboration Efficiency: Through low-latency 5G M2M communication, multiple AMRs can exchange location and task data instantly. This significantly optimizes path planning, prevents congestion and collisions, and boosts overall logistics handling efficiency.
-
Reduced Maintenance Costs & Hardware Failure Rates: The durability of the LGA packaging has been proven in the field, drastically reducing communication failures caused by vibration. This has lowered Client A’s after-sales maintenance costs and increased end-user satisfaction.
