Compal Environmental-protection volunteers -- "Beach- cleaning Activity at Liukuaicuo"

2020 / 09/ 06

The Green Life and Health Club of Compal assembled its environmental protection volunteers to head towards Liukuaicuo for beach cleaning on September 6th. On this occasion, the club worked with the Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) of the Executive Yuan to participate into survey of marine waste. Then, the CEO of "HIIN Studio," Chen Ren-ping, gave everyone a lively and interesting training course on beach cleaning and conveyed the meaning and correct way of beach cleaning. Those 30 Compal colleagues and their families who signed up for the event arrived at the meeting place on time either by public transportation or pool ride, demonstrating their individual capability of action to practice both low carbon and energy-saving measures.

On the day of the event, the sun was strong, the sea sparkling, and waves were hitting upon the coast, which almost submerged the entire beach! The area to be conducted of beach cleaning this time is the safe place among the top 10 spots scattered with marine wastes, sitting next to the port within the breakwater. Of all the participating children and adults, when they perceived the sight, they immediately felt the authenticity of statistics just mentioned in the class. Around the proximity, there are PET bottles, bottle caps, straws, plastic bags, take-out beverage cups, disposable tableware, glass bottles, and other food containers scattering throughout, which are entangled with ropes and wild plants hidden all over. Everyone worked together to pick up and clear 267 kg of waste.

It is hoped that my colleagues can continue to participate in beach cleaning activity, and implement reduced use of plastic bags in their life so as to restore the ocean back to its original facade hand in hand. Do it if you find it right, and it is always time to make an effort with plastic reduction.
