Kaohsiung Library Neimen Branch Action Learning Activities

Although the COVID-19 epidemic had suspended school children from school for more than two months prior to the summer vacation, the learning activities, cultural visits and reading activities for community seniors that are jointly organized by Compal and Kaohsiung City Library's Alian and Tianliao branches, MiTo Park branch and Neimen branch, still started in the spring as scheduled. Compal sponsored the Kaohsiung City Library Neimen Branch to organize action reading activities for community school children in 2021, and started the learning tour since March 5 when Guanting National Elementary School visited the Kaohsiung City Library Main Library and Science and Technology Museum. On March 26, children from Guanting Elementary School went to the Fossil Museum to learn about local biodiversity through fossils. During the trip to the Waterway Museum, they learned about the precious nature of water resources.

Kaohsiung City Library Neimen Branch led Muzha Elementary School and Ximen Elementary School on March 19 and Neimen Elementary School with 80 students and teachers on April 27 to visit Shoushan Zoo and the main library respectively. Guo Mingke, the principal of Neimen Elementary School, said that Neimen is a remote district and children in the district have little opportunity to visit the city due to the poor financial situation of their families and that their parents are working abroad. The library's activities allow the children in Neimen to visit cultural and educational institutions in the city for free, which is a great blessing for the children in the remote area. This not only adds cultural stimulation, but also gives them a better understanding of the city they live in.

Compal has been dedicated to the improvement of technology education and reading education for school children in urban and rural areas for many years. In addition to books and digital learning, Compal also provides children with practical life experience through various learning activities to understand the history and culture of nature and community, educate children to respect the diversity of life, help them learn to grow and explore their own interests, and it is hoped that every child can gain something from the visit.
