Compal believes the LED-backlight LCD TV’s (commonly referred to as LED TVs) will become the mainstream of flat TV in future. LED backlights are environmentally friendly with lead-free and mercury-free, and consume low power, making the energy efficient and long lasting. With the industry estimation that within 3 years, over 90% of households in developed countries will own LCD TV’s, while many of them will own 2 or 3 TV’s. Market growth continues for ever-improving TVs to provide consumers breakthroughs in viewing comfort and convenience. More and more LCD and plasma TVs are trending towards offering excellent picture quality of Full HD, slim to ultra-slim form factor for contemporary looks, 3D experience, and internet connectivity for user friendly access to content.
LCD TV’s
Its mounting system makes possible the light and ultra-slim form factor for the display, generating power efficiency and achieving ultra-high contrast. Common LCD TV display sizes range from 26” to 55” measured diagonally. 26” to 32” models are typically designed with the resolution at 720p, while the 37” to 55” models with their larger display areas are best suited for Full HD or 1080p. Mainstream image processing frequency has also doubled from the 60Hz of recent years to 120Hz, enabling LCD TVs to smoothly display fast-moving images.
3D TV’s
The latest new feature in the consumer TV world is 3D.
